The only thing that was different for my setup, is the file name to look for in step 2b above did not have the'.exe' after it. This worked for me, only Steam was in compatability mode to Vista.
Windows will sometimes automatically set a program to run in compatibility mode if the program crashes, or if for whatever unspecified reason windows decides that a program is using too much resources or taking too much time to respond. Unfortunately automatically setting a program in compatibility mode without telling user is a windows “feature” starting with windows Vista and can’t be turned off. Click ok to close the steam.exe properties dialog Click on the “change settings for all users” button” Make sure everything is unchecked, if anything is checked uncheck it and click apply (don’t close the dialog yet) Right click on the RelicCOH2.exe file select properties from the menu Select the RelicCOH2.exe file (click once)ī. Go to the COH2 installation folder (usually under your steam folder: steamapps\common\Company of Heroes 2)Ī.
Iv.Ĝlick ok to close the steam.exe properties dialogģ. On the new dialog make sure everything is unchecked, if anything is checked uncheck it and click apply, then click ok to close the dialog Iii.Ĝlick on the “change settings for all users” button” Right click on the steam.exe file select properties from the menu Close Steam and COH2 (completely exit steam)Ī. To make sure neither the game or steam are in compatibility mode you must do the following:ġ. Some times windows will set the check box in the UI, but sometimes it will not. If the game pops up a dialog about compatibility mode it means windows set either the game or steam to run in compatibility mode behind your back.
